Team Livingston Preps for Day 2 at Lake St. Clair Elite

Harrison Township, Michigan – It’s no surprise to anyone that Team Livingston pro Jacob Powroznik is in the thick of things after Day 1 at the Plano Bassmaster Elite at Lake St. Clair, Michigan. Powroznik – who weighed in 18 pounds, 11 ounces – has demonstrated over and over again that he’s one of the best smallmouth anglers on the planet, with several Top 10 finishes on the FLW Tour and Elite Series on smallmouth fisheries like St. Clair. And while he caught his Day 1 fish on a drop-shot, sunnier conditions on Day 2 will cause J-Proz to bring out the Team Livingston crankbaits with Electronic Baitfish Sounds (EBS) MultiTouch™ technology.

“It was cloudy and darker today, which dictates that you have to slow down and go a little deeper for smallmouth,” Powroznik said after Day 1 weigh-in. “We’re supposed to see a little more sun on Day 2, though, and that’s the time you can get smallmouth to respond to a faster-moving bait like a HOWELLER DMC. You need brighter conditions to get a good crankbait bite fired up.”

Powroznik points to brighter colored baits to attract aggressive smallies: Melon Shad, Sunrise Citrus Shad, Tiger Spots, etc.

“When the sun is out and it’s slick calm like it’s supposed to be on Day 2, smallmouth will bite a crankbait really good, so you can set the Howeller on EBS Shad™ and really wind it,” Powroznik says. “Smallmouth are sight feeders, but you add the action, the bright color and the EBS Sound all together and you can’t go wrong for these brown fish. I’m looking forward to some sun, so I can sling those crankbaits.”

Weigh-in starts at 3:15 CDT. You can follow Powroznik and fellow Team Livingston pros Hank Cherry, Randy Howell and Brent Chapman on Bassmaster.com.
