A Christmas Story Hero Style – Homeless to Warrior to Humanitarian
Being homeless changed the way I looked at life. Now I focus on keeping my family safe, and helping others who are struggling.”

Paying It Forward |
In addition to the holiday struggles and the distance from his family, Joshua lost his mother during one of his deployments. From this heartbreaking event in his life, he channeled his pain and grief and decided to do more for others. Operation: Santa’s Soldiers (OSS) was born! Joshua began helping people who were in the same position he was in at one point in his life. By calling on the support of his fellow heroes, OSS found various ways to provide the homeless with much-needed jackets and boots to survive during the frigid holiday season. This is a prime example of how compassionate and selfless our warriors can be, on and off the battlefield.![]() |

Blaylock Joins Legend Boats
Midway, Ark – On the heels of his fourth consecutive season in the Top 25 on FLW Angler of the Year points list, FLW Tour Pro Stetson Blaylock is joining the Legend Boats Bricksquad. Included in his Top 25 finishes is his 2013 Runner-Up finish which included two Top 10 finishes in the six event season.
Blaylock will be running the new Legend V-20 for the FLW Tour and the BASS Opens in 2015. ”I can’t get over the amount of room on the deck of the new V-20. Beyond the deck space, I am finding that this boat handles like a sports car on the water and handles rough water extremely well. What more can you ask for from a bass boat – the Legend V-20 has it all: comfort, performance, and a safe rough water ride.”
Legend Boats, of Midway Arkansas, builds custom bass boats. Kody Bradbury of Legend said, “Stetson has had an excellent start to his career. He was the youngest angler to ever win an FLW Tour level event when he won on Lake Norman in 2009. For the past six years, he’s been one of the most consistent FLW Tour anglers, making five of six Forrest Wood Cups. He’s a great fit for our company.”
Blaylock has added incentive to qualify for his sixth Forrest Wood Cup this season. ”The Cup is near my home on Lake Ouachita this coming summer. It’s also not far from Legend Boats. I’d love nothing more than to win my first Cup in Arkansas, but I have six events before that to focus on,” said Blaylock.
Along with the new V-20 bass boat, Legend offers the Alpha 211 (21′), the Alpha 199 (19′ 10″), and the Alpha 191 (19′) models of bass boats. For more information on Legend Boats, please visit legendmarine.com.

Tackle Tuesday: Volume 2
This week Keith Combs will discuss his favorite bait for punching vegetation. It’s a 1oz Strike King Hack Attack jig in black n’ blue. Combs likes to use a 4 inch Strike King Rodent in Blue Craw as the trailer.
1. Application – Punching any type of matted vegetation.
2. Modifications – I trim the skirt about 1/2 inch behind the hook and trim the weed guard tapered. I also trim about 1/2 inch off the Rodent head. Thread the Rodent all the way on the hook. Make sure the bait is straight to avoid a line twist. I then use a green sharpie to color my line up about 3-4 ft.
**Reason for modifications – Trimming the bait makes it easier to penetrate the grass and helps to avoid short strikes. The yellow Smackdown allows you to watch your line, but using the green marker makes the line less visible to the bass.**
3. Recommended Tackle – Power Tackle PG104.5. Seaguar 65lb Smackdown braid. Shimano Metanium.
