Scroggins Held Together with Duct Tape At Toledo Bend

Before he became a full-time pro, Terry Scroggins spent 16 years piecing wrecked cars back together in the family auto body business.

But during day one of competition at the Bassmaster Elite Series event on Toledo Bend – it was Scroggins that had to be held together. And like any ingenious American male – he relied on duct tape.

First – for his left knee – then for his shorts.

“I’m not sure why, but my knee was hurting when I got out of bed this morning, so when I bumped into Bassmaster writer Steve Bowman at the gas station before launch, I asked him if he had any tape – and he gave me a roll of duct tape,” says the Team Toyota pro.

“It worked great – the pain went away instantly as soon as I taped it up,” grinned Scroggins. “Look here, I’ve had knee braces before, and this is the best knee brace I’ve ever had.”

Soon after, the need for duct tape migrated north from his knee to the butt of his favorite Carhartt shorts after jerking a hook free from their hardy fabric.

“I tore ‘em up pretty good getting that hook out of them, and I couldn’t cross the weigh-in stage with my undershorts hanging out, so the duct tape came in handy again,” laughed Scroggins.

Handy indeed. Scroggins put a 13-pound limit on the scales – and sits 49th – thanks to duct tape.

Win $10,000+ of Skeet Reese’s Sponsors Products & Help Several Kids’ Charities

Several years ago, my family and I started doing a Skeet Reese Kid’s Fishing Day at a park in our community of Meadow Vista.  Because of projects and schedules, we haven’t been able to do it every year, but this year is going to be our fifth Kid’s Fishing Day.

There have always been two reasons we wanted to hold an event like this.  The first is because I love being able to share my love of the sport with kids.  If I had not fallen in love with fishing at an early age, I don’t know where I could have ended up; I certainly wouldn’t be a professional angler.  The other reason we wanted to do it was to do a fundraiser for charities in our community, and that has extended to charities that are near and dear to my heart across the country.

This year, as a part of the fifth Skeet Reese Kid’s Fishing Day, we are giving people across the country the chance to participate in a raffle to raise funds for the charities on our list.  This isn’t a short list of a few raffle prizes either – this is a winner take all $10,000 Grand Prize that people from all over the country can have a chance to win by purchasing a single $10 raffle ticket right here on my website.

My sponsors have kicked in to help by providing a giant package of prizes that will be included. It’s all stuff that I use every day when I’m fishing the Bassmaster Elite Series.
Included in the $10,000 Grand Prize Package will be:

A set of General Tires (4) tires of winner’s choice.

A Lowrance HDS-9 Gen3 Touch Depth Finder
An 8’ Power-Pole Pro Series II Shallow Water Anchor
A Lucky Craft Lure Gift pack
Eagle Claw Trokar Hooks
Six Wright & McGill Co. Skeet Reese Tournament Series Rod and Victory II Reel combos
One HUK Next Level Rain suit
Two Ranger Boats Inflatable PFD’s
One Mercury Tempest Propeller and Mercury Premium Plus Outboard Oil
Dick’s Sporting Goods Gift Cards
Berkley and Berkley Havoc Tackle Pack
And, one of my 2016 tournament worn, signed jerseys

All of the proceeds will go to help our favorite charities across the country and at home.
