“Tackle Tuesday”

This week’s Tackle Tuesday feature is the new Strike King Rage Swimmer. They come in two sizes, a 3.75 and 4.75 inch, and I prefer to use a 3/4 ounce Strike King Squadron jighead to fish it.
I like to throw the Rage Swimmer on those finicky offshore fish, especially the ones that are grouped up on Shad. Make a long cast past the school and allow the bait to sink all the way to the bottom. Reel slowly about 10-15 times, let the bait fall back to the bottom and repeat. The only modification I make to the bait is to trim about 1/4 inch off the head to create a flat surface. Add a dab of glue and you’re ready to go.
My recommended set-up is a 7-6 Power Tackle Keith Combs Signature Series Big Worm rod, a Shimano Chronarch, and 20lb Seaguar Invizx.

Good Fishing! Keith Combs
Fish with Keith Combs

Keith is auctioning on Facebook, a guided trip for two on Lake Sam Rayburn or Toledo Bend. All proceeds of the auction go to Warriors Weekend, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the support of veterans of the United States of America with an emphasis on those wounded in the Global War on Terrorism. The auction is in conjunction with the annual crappie and bass tournament held in Ganado, Texas on Lake Texana. The event was started a few years ago by one of Keith’s sponsors, BLV Enterprises, and in only a few years has raised nearly 75,000 dollars. To submit a bid, just send Keith a message on FB. The winner will also receive a Keith Combs Signature Series rod and Shimano reel from Tackle Addict. Bidding closes at 7 PM on June 4th.
Pick the Right Shoes

If your a seasoned tournament pro or a weekend warrior you can understand the importance of wearing the right pair of shoes. If your feet hurt it can kill a good day on the water as quick as anything. We caught up with Elite Series pro John Crews and got his thoughts on his shoe of choice.
Crews quickly pointed to his Under Armour SpeedForm Fortis runners and had this to say about them. “These are the most comfortable and stable running type shoe I have ever worn. I can stand on them all day and have zero fatigue on my feet and ankles even after a thirteen hours on the front deck of my boat my feet and back still feel great”. The kicker is they look great too!

Meet the “Hog Tie”

As the summer draws closer, schools of big bass are going to start showing up off shore. We recently had a chance to test the Hog Tie Underspin from Hog Farmer Baits. Although the conditions were not optimal for fishing a big hair jig we had to give it a shot.
The Hog Tie is a hybrid somewhere between a buck tail and a underspin that fits the bill when bass are feeding on bigger bait. The unique blend of proprietary premium synthetics, flashabou, and Krystal Flash accents teamed with the willow blade make the Hog Tie a real fish catcher.
There is also no fear of the underspin wire interfering with hook sets, it’s titanium and very flexible. The willow blade turns with the slightest movements with the help of a high quality ball bearing.
We found success fishing both deep and shallow on a steady retrieve and also ripping it off the bottom in some pretty muddy conditions.
The Hog Tie is available six sizes from 1.5 to 3/8 oz fit to any conditions you will ever face.
