Alabamans Win 5th Annual Toyota Bonus Bucks Tournament

Of the 143 teams that signed-up for the 5th Annual Toyota Bonus Bucks tournament, and traveled from an amazing 27 different states to Table Rock Lake – it was the team of Jeff Ragsdale and Doug Webster of Birmingham, AL that took home the win amid a beautiful but very tough day of fishing in The Ozarks.

Their weight of 14 pounds 10 ounces was enough to take home the $5,000 first place prize from the no entry fee tournament, in which just one teammate has to be registered for Bonus Bucks. In Ragsdale and Webster’s case, they’re both proud Tundra owners and Bonus Bucks members.

Webster, a diesel engine mechanic, explained that most of their winning weight came in a 30-minute flurry on a Carolina-rigged Lake Fork Ring Fry in about 12-feet of water.

When Ragsdale was asked what he liked most about his Tundra, he stated, “I was a Chevy guy until 2010 when I bought my first Tundra, and Toyotas just last longer, so I bought my second Tundra last year.”

The top 30 teams got a paycheck in the No Entry Fee event. Plus, three randomly drawn teams received a check for $500 cash. The 15th place team took home a $1,000 Bass Pro Shops Gift Card.

The 31st place team won the LEER Lucky Dog Prize – but there was actually a tie for 31st – so in fact, two teams received $750 cash from LEER.

A 3-pounder caught by the team of Charles Davis and David Hargis hauled home the Carhartt Big Bass $1,000 Clothing Prize Package.

Certainly, nobody went home empty handed. As participants who traveled from a wide range of states across America were treated to free meals, and a generous amount of free clothing and hats, along with tremendous fellowship before the first cast was ever made.

Watson Wins

James Watson won his first ever FLW Tour event and claimed the second Forrest Wood Cup slot for the 2017 season.  Watson has competed and won PAA and BASS events, fished championships including the Forrest Wood Cup and Bassmaster Classic but hadn’t yet claimed a FLW Tour trophy. Saturday October 22, 2016 he did just that! Fall fishing is something Watson excels at so with his nose to the grindstone he was able to learn the Lake Norris pattern which to him seemed similar to home and made boundless progress each day.

“That last day was tough, I didn’t think I’d be able to pull it off. I only won by 3 ounces!” Watson commented after he was able to regain composure . Watson’s total weight was 36-10 with good pal Jason Lambert, second place at 36-7.

“I am so excited I cannot even begin to explain,” was another quote of emotion that came from Watson.

Watson added that it feels good to finally win a FLW Tour event but knows he cannot do what he does without his sponsors, family, friends and fans that have supported him throughout his fishing career thus far. The fun is not over yet! There is still fishing to do.

James Watson will be heading to the Forrest Wood Cup in August 2017 for the third time in his career and like all anglers will hope to get a win there as well. Follow his fishing journey on James Watson Professional Angler Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

T-H Marine Signs Supporting Sponsorship Deal With B.A.S.S.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — T-H Marine Supplies Inc., a leading manufacturer of high-performance boat products since 1975, has signed a multiyear deal to become a supporting level sponsor of select Bassmaster tournament circuits.

Under the agreement with B.A.S.S., T-H Marine will sponsor the Bassmaster Elite Series, Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Opens, Academy Sports + Outdoors B.A.S.S. Nation events and Toyota Bonus Bucks Bassmaster Team Championship through the 2019 season. The sponsorship will begin with the Southern Open on Florida’s Harris Chain of Lakes, Jan. 19-21, 2017.

In more than four decades, T-H Marine has been responsible for game-changing boat products like the original HOT FOOT throttle, ATLAS hydraulic jackplates and manual jackplates like the Z-LOCK and HI-JACKER. The family-owned company, which is located in Huntsville, Ala., makes thousands of products found in recreational boats everywhere.

“If you go to any bass tournament on any lake in the country, you’re going to find boats equipped with products from T-H Marine,” said B.A.S.S. CEO Bruce Akin. “Obviously, that makes them a perfect fit as a sponsor for our own tournament trails, and we’re happy to welcome them to our family of sponsors.

“Our goal is to grow the sport of bass fishing, and that’s something T-H Marine has been dedicated to doing for more than 40 years.”

T-H Marine was an activation partner with B.A.S.S. during the 2016 season, when it exhibited at select Bassmaster Elite Series events and Opens.

The new supporting sponsorship entitles T-H Marine to exhibition space at the Classic Outdoor Expo to be held in conjunction with the GEICO Bassmaster Classic presented by GoPro in Houston March 24-26, as well as expos at Bassmaster Elite Series tournaments and other B.A.S.S. events.

“We are very excited to continue our partnership with B.A.S.S. and to grow it substantially by becoming a supporting sponsor,” said T-H Marine President and CEO Jeff Huntley. “Just as aspiring bass fishermen the world over dream of competing in Bassmaster Elite Series tournaments, small businesses in our industry hope to be successful enough to become a B.A.S.S. Sponsor!”

Huntley said fishing fans won’t have to look hard to find T-H Marine products at the highest level of the sport.

“Our ATLAS hydraulic jackplates and HydroWave feeding stimulators are used by over 90 percent of pros because they demand the best equipment,” Huntley said. “This awesome support of the many Elite, Open, Nation and Team Championship fishermen who chose T-H Marine products has allowed us to grow to realize this dream.

“We are proud to help support the B.A.S.S. tournaments that provide so many fishing opportunities for our customers and anglers at every skill level.”
