ProPatterns, Inc. launches its online series Exposed, featuring champion angler Brandon Palaniuk. Still in his twenties, the professional angler has quickly taken the Elite field by storm and in one of his greatest finishes on the Elite trail he shares his practice day at www.propatterns.com.

Palaniuk rose up from club competition to the Idaho State Team and quickly qualified for the Federation Championship early in his amateur career. Palaniuk secured a tour card by winning that championship only five years ago. Since that time, Palaniuk has become one of the most exciting pros to watch on the Elite trail, always gunning for a win.

Exposed, the one-of-a-kind behind-the-scenes reality series, follows top competitors in the sport of bass fishing as they analyze and breakdown competition waters during practice days leading up to tourney events on the Elite trail. When it comes to tournament success, Palaniuk tells ProPatterns, “One of the most important things to having a good finish in any tournament is preparation. The less practice time you have the more important this becomes, so that eliminating dead water happens much quicker.”

As they chase top honors and position for the Classic, these champion competitors reveal the secrets that have made them the best in the sport. When asked about how amateurs may learn from his success, Palaniuk explains his drive: “You have to win. It’s just about that simple. The amount of exposure numbers from winning are far greater than second and third, and we play in a world of numbers. But, when you win, you also have to be willing to work with the media to tell your story.”

Since securing his tour card, Brandon Palaniuk has been a force to be reckoned with on the Elite trail. In 2011, Palaniuk landed fourth at the Bassmaster Classic and has been coming back to the Classic ever since. He took home top honors at the 2012 Elite Series TroKar Quest at Bull Shoals Lake and at the 2013 Elite Series Evan Williams Bourbon Showdown at St. Lawrence River. In 2013, Paluniuk landed in the second spot at the Classic. He returns to the Classic next month, again a contender for the grand prize.

The champion competitor comes back to Exposed this year to launch the season premier, offering tips and strategies for working cool-water conditions on Table Rock Lake in the Ozarks. As he studies the waters in his release, Palaniuk stumbles across an important technique for working with a lure type in the cooler conditions, a practice variable that becomes important to his high finish.

Also, Palaniuk is known for his flashy light displays and credits Rigid Industries LED Lighting for their “innovative products that make our lives as fisherman much easier. Their involvement within the sport has broadened our fan bases and also brought new sponsors into the fishing market.” Palaniuk entertains along the way, bringing energy and excitement to his practice day, while offering unscripted insider tips as conditions on the water and in the air change moment by moment.

At the end of the tourney at Table Rock, Palaniuk landed in the eighth spot. Another Exposed series veteran Mike McClelland took top honors at the event. Both will compete at the 2015 GEICO Bassmaster Classic at Lake Hartwell, Greenville, SC, on Feb. 20-22, 2015. Seven-time champion and series veteran Mike McClelland makes his return to Exposed this April.

For the past three years, ProPatterns has been the premier source of insider information on the sport of professional fishing. According to Paluniuk, “Exposed shows you exactly how an Elite Series professional breaks down a practice day for a tournament. There are no gimmicks or tricks. Just an angler, the lake at hand, and the tools he/she has to work with.”

The Exposed series comprises only one facet of the ProPatterns brand. ProPatterns also hosts a journaling platform, where amateurs and pros can interact, using video, images, bio profiles, website links, and vital stats regarding their days on the water. Every year, ProPatterns also hosts a fantasy fishing series. The ELITE subscription member who wins the competition wins a travel-package fantasy pheasant hunt, where he or she and a guest hunt for two days with a cadre of Exposed pros.

FLW Tour pro Clent Davis adds Mister Twister® as his title sponsor for 2015. The fourth-year pro, and 2012 Rookie of the Year said, “I’m looking forward to great things with Mister Twister®. They have been a big part of my success in years past and will
continue to be for years to come.”

Mister Twister®, the original manufacturer of the Curly Tail® Grub, is committed to producing baits that catch more fish, more often. “Utilizing the experience and dedication of Clent will go a long way to helping Mister Twister® live up to its promise,” says Mister Twister® Communications Director, Kurt Mazurek. “Plus, Clent’s style of fishing is a perfect match for us. This guy really knows how to catch bass on soft plastic baits.”

A couple of Davis’ favorite Mister Twister® baits include the The Flip’n OUT and the brand new Magnum SinSation. “Those two have become go-to baits for me on tournament days. That Magnum SinSation works whether you’re flippin’ heavy cover in six-inches of water or dragging it on a football jig off channel ledges 20-feet deep. The Flip’n OUT is hard to beat for punching mats. The little Twister Curly Tails® on the sides really set it apart from other baits in that category. I’m also really excited about a new lure I’ve been working on with Mister Twister®, that will be out in early Spring 2015. I can’t wait to show everyone. It’s going to be big!”

Mister Twister® is enthusiastic about the future with Clent Davis. “We really like what Clent adds to the Mister Twister® team. He’s a good communicator and a team player who shares our passion for bass fishing. We’re proud and excited to have him on board,” said Mazurek.

Ohio Pro Shyock Joins Yamamoto

Gary Yamamoto Custom Baits, a legendary manufacturer of high performance fishing tackle, announced today that they have added Ohio pro Fletcher Shryock to an already loaded pro staff. Shryock qualified for the Elite Series in his first attempt and 2015 will be his fourth year on the senior B.A.S.S. circuit.

“Fletcher brings an ‘X Games’ edge combined with a down to earth personality,” said GYCB VP of Operations Ron Colby. “In just a few years on tour, he’s proven that he can catch fish across the country and work closely with both sponsors and fans.”

Shryock won the second Bassmaster event he competed in, the 2011 Southern Open on North Carolina’s Lake Norman, thereby qualifying for the 2012 Bassmaster Classic on the Red River. He’s generally considered to be a northern smallmouth expert, as evidenced by his 2nd place finish at the final 2014 Bassmaster Northern Open, held on Lake St. Clair, but he has also notched top finishes on southern impoundments and rivers and loves to flip and throw a frog.

“I don’t think there’s an angler out there who doesn’t have Yamamoto soft plastics in his boat,” Shryock said. “Everyone knows that the Senko is a game changer. What I’m really excited about is the new hard bait line. It’s cool to be in on the ground floor of something like that with a company that is known for its quality.”

Although Shryock, who will turn 30 later this year, is relatively new to professional bass fishing, he’s a seasoned athlete who previously competed in the AMA motocross and supercross nationals before a shoulder injury ended that career. He is a prime example of the new breed of bass pro, savvy with social media and personal branding, and a fast learner.

Gary Yamamoto Custom Baits, based in Page, Arizona, makes tournament-tested fishing tackle that can be used effectively by novices and champion anglers alike. The company produces a wide range of products, most notably soft plastics baits such as the Hula Grub and the Senko, two first-of-their-kind lures which remain the standard-bearers for their categories today.

Hite Rejoins Yamamoto

Gary Yamamoto Custom Baits, a legendary manufacturer of high performance fishing tackle, announced today that they have added veteran South Carolina bass pro Davy Hite to an already loaded pro staff. Hite currently fishes the Bassmaster Elite Series tour, but he is one of the handful of pros who have won both the Bassmaster Classic and the FLW Tour Championship.

“I’m proud to add Davy to the list of champions on my team,” said company founder Gary Yamamoto. “I’ve known him for a couple of decades and I know that his skills and insights into product design are consistent with the vision that I have for my company.”

Hite won the FLW Tour Championship (since renamed the Forrest Wood Cup) on the Mississippi River in 1998 and the following year he won the Bassmaster Classic on the Red River, one of eight B.A.S.S. victories in his storied career. Bassmaster Angler of the Year titles in 1997 and 2002 sandwiched those championships.

“In my opinion, the Senko is the best soft plastic ever created,” Hite said. “I’m known as a power fisherman and the Yamamoto lineup plays a role in my continued success. In my 22 year career, I’ve seen a lot of good products, but I still have some ideas about how to make them better and I expect to have the opportunity to do some product development with Yamamoto.”
