Enigma Fishing Wins Second Annual ICAST Cup

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (July 12, 2016) – The Enigma Fishing-sponsored duo of Jesse Tacoronte and Adam Santanoff brought a five-bass limit to the scale Tuesday morning weighing 17 pounds, 2 ounces to win the second annual ICAST Cup presented by FLW bass-fishing tournament on Lake Toho. For their victory, the duo each earned trophies to take home and the title of ICAST Cup Champions.

The event marked the kickoff of ICAST, the largest sportfishing trade show in the world. The tournament launched out of Big Toho Marina in Kissimmee, Florida, and featured 62 teams competing for bragging rights and to raise money for the KeepAmericaFishing™ foundation. Each company that sponsored a boat donated a minimum $100 entry fee to the foundation in order to compete. After the final fish had been weighed Tuesday, $6,000 was raised for the KeepAmericaFishing™ foundation.

“I think we were the first boat in the fleet to catch a fish,” says Tacoronte. “Within a minute and a half we had a fish in the boat – a 4-pounder. Twenty minutes later we had that one that was almost 6 [pounds] in the boat. We were using an Enigma 7-3, medium-heavy Phenom Series to fish outside grass edges.”

Swimming a Zoom Magnum Speed Worm with a 1/4-ounce weight was the key to the Enigma team’s victory.

“That thing imitates a needlefish,” Tacoronte adds. “That’s why the big ones eat it. That’s the primary forage out here for big fish. You won’t get many bites, but you’ll get big ones.”

Tacoronte and Santanoff focused on four key grass beds that Tacoronte says he fished about a month ago when he won a previous bass tournament on Toho. The grass has matured since then, so the anglers backed off to slightly deeper water and worked the worm with a steady retrieve in the middle of the water column for fish suspended up in the grass.

The duo’s largest bass, a 5-pound, 13-ounce largemouth, also earned them the Costa Big Bass Award, including t-shirts and a free pair of Costa sunglasses.

The top 10 teams finished the tournament in:

1st:          Enigma Fishing – Jesse Tacoronte and Adam Santanoff, five bass, 17-2

Picasso Lures Awarded Design Patent On Shock Blade

Pennsylvania based Picasso Lures announced the issuance of United States Patent No.US  D760,866 S titled “Fishing Lure Attachment Clip”. The patent protects the unique head-to-blade wire connection of their popular Shock Blade and FX Shock Blade series of bladed swim jigs. Picasso President Terry Monteleone said ”To get around the Z Man Patent other manufacturers use a simple split ring to attach the blade to the head. The problem with using the split ring approach is the connection is too loose and upon anything other than a slow retrieve the lure rises to the surface and also creates “blow out” causing the blade to bind to one side, stop vibrating and spin. Our Patented clip connection keeps the blade to head connection tight so even on a fast retrieve it will not blow out and bind. Plus it has the advantage of keeping the lure down in the strike zone longer without getting lift which potentially means putting more fish in the live well.” The Shock Blade is endorsed by Bassmaster Elite Angler Aaron Martens and is available in a range of sizes from 1/4 – 2 ounces to accommodate all your fishing depths from shallow to deepwater ledges and drop offs.

The rustic elegance of the Bass Pro Outdoor Academy near Big Cedar Lodge will serve as registration headquarters, with launch and weigh-in taking place nearby at Long Creek Boat Ramp.

Fast becoming one of the most popular customer appreciation bass tournaments in America, this centrally located edition of the Bonus Bucks Team Event is sure to attract passionate bass anglers from a wide variety of states to the sprawling 41,000 acre reservoir near Branson that will offer a wide variety of fishing patterns in late October.

Bonus Bucks members Wayne and Lyn England provided greatest proof of the event’s goodness last year when they drove 34 hours from their home in New England to Toledo Bend Reservoir. Four less-than-weighty bass later, the Englands enjoyed a trip across the B.A.S.S. stage, ate a free lunch courtesy of Toyota, and began the 34-hour trek from Louisiana back to New Hampshire.

“It was a blast. The tournament was so well run, the pros were awesome to talk to, it was all great,” says Wayne. “I’d drive that far all over again to attend another Bonus Bucks Tournament.”

All eligible registered Bonus Bucks participants are invited to participate and register a team for the Owners Tournament, with the exception of Bassmaster Elite Series and Walmart FLW Tour pros. Only one of the team members must be registered in the Bonus Bucks Program to be eligible to compete.

The top 30 teams are guaranteed a paycheck. A free gift bag will be given to the first 200 anglers to sign up for the tournament, and all teams will have a chance to visit with Team Toyota and Bassmaster Elite Series pros who will be on hand to help with the event.

Anglers are required to pre-register by October 17, 2016. B.A.S.S. tournament staff will conduct the tournament, and be onsite Saturday afternoon October 22nd at 4:00 p.m. for official angler check-in at Bass Pro Shops Outdoor Academy near Big Cedar Resort in Ridgedale, MO.

Participants are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible for this fellowship-filled, prize-rich event. Limited space is available. To register, please call Kendell at (918) 742-6424, or email: bonusbucks@dynamicsponsorships.com. Online registration will also be coming soon at toyotafishing.com.
